Material Composition: Foamex is made from expanded PVC, a rigid yet lightweight plastic that is much sturdier than standard foam core. Weather Resistance: Because the material is waterproof and UV-resistant, it can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications. Surface Quality: It features a smooth, flat surface that is ideal for high-definition digital printing, ensuring vibrant colours and sharp text. Thickness Options: Boards are commonly available in 3mm, 5mm, and 10mm thicknesses to suit different durability needs. Ease of Installation: The panels can be easily drilled, screwed, glued to various surfaces, making them simple to mount.
Foamex printing is a popular choice for high-quality, durable signage. Unlike traditional "foamcore," which has a soft paper face, Foamex is solid PVC, making it significantly more rigid and resistant to crushing. It is widely used for retail displays, exhibition panels, and event signage due to its lightweight nature and professional matte finish.
The material is available in several standard thicknesses, typically 3mm, 5mm, and 10mm. Thinner boards offer slight flexibility for curved surfaces, while 10mm boards provide maximum structural integrity for larger, standalone signs. Advanced UV-resistant inks ensure that prints remain vibrant and fade-resistant, even when used outdoors.
While it is weatherproof and water-resistant, Foamex is most effective for short-to-medium-term outdoor use, typically lasting 3 to 5 years before environmental exposure may cause it to wither. For indoor applications, it is nearly permanent. Customisation is a major benefit; boards can be laser-cut into unique shapes, drilled for easy mounting, or finished with antimicrobial lamination for use in healthcare or hospitality settings.
